Fisherman's Friends

Topsham Film Society will screen Fisherman's Friends as part of Topsham Town Fayre week and in keeping with the Topsham Charter Day’s theme of FISH & SHIPS. All proceeds from these screenings will be donated to Topsham Community Association.

There is a matinee screening at 3.00 pm (doors open at 2.30pm), and an evening screening at 7.30 pm with a bar available from 6.45 pm.

Set in Cornwall, the film tells the story of a fast living, cynical London music executive who heads to a remote village on a stag weekend where he's tricked by his boss into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen. He becomes the ultimate "fish out of water" as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families who value friendship and community over fame and fortune.

Based on the musical group The Fisherman’s Friends from Port Isaac who have had played to hundreds of thousands of fans at home and abroad singing the traditional songs of the sea handed down to them by their forefathers

Entry to a season of films for just £22

All films are shown twice on selected Fridays at Matthews Hall. Our matinees begin
at 3pm (doors open 2.30pm; café open) and evening showings at 7.30pm (bar from 6.45pm). Matinee showings are subtitled – even English-language films.

Visitors are welcome, pay on the door.
