Unfortunately the TFS committee have decided to postpone the screening of David Copperfield on 18th December. I know this will be disappointing for many members who were looking forward to seeing this excellent film and enjoying a bit of ‘normality’. We plan to show the film at the end of the season in April or May.
Members of the committee worked so hard to ensure that the October screenings were as safe as possible. From the feedback of members who came and committee duty stewards it appears that not only did people feel safe but very much appreciated the society operating again. Since then circumstances have significantly changed. In October we were in Tier 1, afterwards we have had lockdown and are now in Tier 2
This was an extremely difficult decision to make, balancing personal freedom for audience members to decide for themselves whether or not to attend a screening with those of the community at large.
Although Covid regulations would allow a screening at Matthews Hall. It was felt by the majority of the committee that the Covid risk to the audience, duty stewards and the Topsham community was too high. Also if anyone attending the screening tested positive then all audience members and those on duty would have to isolate for two weeks over the Christmas season.
We now hope to open the season with The Peanut Butter Falcon on 8th January. We expect that for most, if not all, of the season only current members will be able to come to screenings.
The TFS committee would like to wish everyone well and you have a very good Christmas. Daron Murrell Chair TFS
