August 2021 News

Topsham Film Society will screen FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS on FRIDAY 27th August as part of Topsham Town Fayre week and in keeping with the Topsham Charter Day’s theme of FISH & SHIPS. 

All proceeds from these screenings will be donated to Topsham Community Association.

June 2021 News

Topsham Film Society has decided to start the new season earlier than normal as you might have missed seeing great films, on the big screen, with other people around you! 

Our first film The Personal History of David Copperfield will be screened on 17th September 2021.

March 2021 News

Topsham Film Society’s committee has decided to cancel this season of films.
We have worked hard to try to make this season work and this has been an extremely difficult decision to make. As you know, we had been hopeful that we could screen postponed films at a later date in the spring.

December News 2020 Update

Unfortunately the TFS committee has decided to postpone all 3 films scheduled to be screened in January. We plan to show The Peanut Butter Falcon, Beautiful Boy and Harriet at some stage in April or May 2021.

Unfortunately the TFS committee have decided to postpone the screening of David Copperfield on 18th December. I know this will be disappointing for many members who were looking forward to seeing this excellent film and enjoying a bit of ‘normality’.

November 2020 News

After considerble thought and planning we have decided that Topsham Film Society’s new season of twelve films will start on Friday 18th December with a wonderful film The Personal History of David Copperfield.

In these unpredictable times many film societies have cancelled their seasons altogether. This was an option we considered but there was extremely positive feedback from attendees at our trial film screenings in October. The Covid safety measures put in place were praised and the opportunity to watch a film with other people during this difficult period was very much appreciated.

June 2020 news update

TFS has been screening films for over 15 years, during that time we have shown nearly 200 films. Recent circumstances have given us the free time to watch more films than normal. These days there are thousands of films available on DVD or at the click of a button.
What to watch? The film critics have drawn up lists of their favourite films.
